Biography
Julie Forbes has had a wide range of experience working with dogs. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 1999 with a BS in Animal Science. During her third year of college, she worked for Doggie Daycare, Inc in Williston, VT – one of the first dog daycares to open in the country. Julie also volunteered with a group called “Pets Helping People”, which took ex-racing greyhounds to area nursing homes to visit with the elderly, as well as at the Craftsbury Dogsled Races.
After gaining a professional background in companion animal nutrition, Julie found the Academy of Canine Behavior’s “Apprentice Program” which she was accepted into in September of 2002. Upon her completion of the apprenticeship Julie was hired as a full-time trainer at the Academy of Canine Behavior in Bothell, WA, where she taught classes, trained dogs and assessed behavioral problems. In addition to her work as a trainer, Julie managed the start-up of the Academy’s doggie daycare, the apprentice program, adoption program, and wrote nutrition articles for their bi-monthly newsletter.
Now the owner of “Sensitive Dog,” which she started at the beginning of 2005, Julie launched a Training Camp at the Barking Lounge and has since been hailed by her clients as “The Dog Whisperer of Seattle” and “A Miracle Worker.” She also conducts in-home private lessons, behavioral evaluations, basic and intermediate obedience classes, dog daycare staff trainings, nutrition seminars and consultations.
